When working in a medium sized office setting, you tend to share links with your co-workers, and then forget to show your other friends. This is a demonstration of what a recent study claims we spend 25% of our office time doing (while maintaining or even increasing productivity). Our managers, on the other hand, would call them "distractions".

That's pretty significant, but possibly belabored by whoever that was for CNN.
Also, there is the Republican tenancy not to give a shit if somebody doesn't like what you think. It's almost a point of pride. I know Democrats do it too. But I've had more opportunities to see Republicans discard divergent opinions (facts) in an almost prideful way, like using facts or considering points-of view are signs of weakness. ("I looked it up in my gut. I don't need to look at books.")
That said, maybe George Bush is happier not to shake anyone's hand. In fact, he might think it's he who is snubbing them.
I think he ought to stick around to see how history judges him. He's always been confident that he'd be depicted positively by historians, which gave him the ability to make decisions that sounded like really bad ideas at the time. If he killed himself, he'd never get to learn that they actually were really bad ideas. Besides, he'd have to burn in hell for committing suicide, and he's also sure that he has a place in Heaven for all the good he's done. To get that, he'll have to continue suffering. Hang in there W! You could always pry all the 'O' keys off of the White House keyboards.
