Comics vs. The Real World

The mayor of the city Batman, in the province of Batman, near the Batman river, in Turkey plans to sue Christopher Nolan for unauthorized use of the name "Batman."

This is almost too absurd to be believed, but, in part, that's why I believe it.

Oh, it's real. Apparently, last year, he got a settlement out of DC Comics for using the name:

"[T]he mayor ... was awarded damages by DC Comics after a lawsuit over the use of his town's name for the superhero Batman."

Too bad the city of Batman was founded hundreds of years ago.
