Please, Put Me Out of Lucas's Misery
I know I am sick enough to pay to see the originals in the theater and in 3D, but after watching this I'm afraid I may be sick enough to watch the crapfest that is the new trilogy, in 3D. The movie doesn't look any better, but it's Star Wars. Remember when that really meant something?

The Story of River Song
One thing that I don't like about episodic science fiction is when they introduce a character in an episode that we're supposed to love and then kill them. There's never a strong enough emotional impact. They only existed for an hour of TV time and then are gone. Why should I care about them?
Steven Moffat's turned that old story on its ear by killing River Song in her first appearance and then bringing her back throughout the Doctor's travels through time.
We've seen it through his perspective, now see it through hers:

Jim Emerson's In the Cut
Jim Emerson, of the excellent blog movie Scanners, has been producing video essays about cutting together action sequences. He starts with the chase scene from The Dark Knight, a film he has largely negative opinions of, to help explain to himself and his readers why he doesn't like Nolan's direction.
Here are the three parts he's release so far:
I've mentioned his blog here before and I'd like to recommend it again. It's probably my favorite blog about movies, that I know of at least.
