nerd hijack
Check out what's winning NASA's "name a part of our space station" contest.
Myself, I've always thought that "Serenity" had a vaguely funereal sound to it.

Watchmen Video Game
Many of you are probably tired of the Watchmen media blitz, but this game is a pretty clever little imitation of an 80s sidescroller.
Porn in the USA
Conservatives seem to be the biggest consumers of pornography:
Residents of 27 states that passed laws banning gay marriages boasted 11% more porn subscribers than states that don't explicitly restrict gay marriage.
To get a better handle on other associations between social attitudes and pornography consumption, Edelman melded his data with a previous study on public attitudes toward religion.
States where a majority of residents agreed with the statement "I have old-fashioned values about family and marriage," bought 3.6 more subscriptions per thousand people than states where a majority disagreed. A similar difference emerged for the statement "AIDS might be God's punishment for immoral sexual behaviour."

DO IT, CALIFORNIA!!
There is legislation being proposed that would legalize pot in California, though sales will be subject to a hefty tax to help pay off the State's debts.
Hear me, State lawmakers, and know that I am speaking as someone who has NEVER, not even ONCE, smoked pot, and by NEVER, I mean that it wasn't even an "I didn't even inhale" sort of situation: PLEASE LEGALIZE POT AND TAX THE CRAP OUT OF IT. While you're at it, why don't you raise the taxes on alcohol, cigarettes, and junk food, too. I will vote for it.
